House Updates

So I promised an update on the things we've been doing around the house, and here it is.

We posted much on the wallpaper peeling, drywalling, and repapering leading up to Susie's Mom and Dad's visit. In the week after they left, we've managed to finished the wallpapering (without ruining our marriage), and we've started to put some pictures on the walls. That's one thing that really makes the house feel like home. Here is a picture of the finished wallpaper.

It's mostly gray with some very muted tans and purples. It's much more subdued than the ugly green ferns that where there before. We consider it to be one of the biggest improvements we've made so far.

Next we finally broke down and spent an afternoon raking/blowing the yard. If we have not mentioned it, before we have a massive yard, about the size of a football field front to back. At least half of the lot is shaded with wonderful mature trees. That is to say the trees are wonderful until they dump all their leaves on the yard.

We only raked from the front of the garage forward (where the grass actually grows) and ended up with some pretty impressive piles of leaves.

Finally, we tackled the office. The walls in there were purple with flowers, worms, and butterflies stenciled on them.

It was a pretty cute room, but certainly not very office-like, and we have all of our black and white things that were clashing with it horribly, so we painted the walls white. We had to do two coats of kilz and two coats of paint. Covering the purple was harder than we anticipated. We got it finished and just got around to hanging our posters. It's not easy to get a great camera angle of the room, but here are a few pictures.

If any of you come out to visit, this is the room we use as our second guest room.

So, as you can see, we've been busy bees. Hope you like the updates!

Peace,

Rach and Suz
