Movin To The Country, Gonna Eat Us A Lot Of Peaches

School has started for Mommy Susie and also for Jackson's best friend Etta's mommy, so Rach and Todd have started taking some organized outings for us and the kids. Last week we drove just across the Pennsylvania state line to a peach orchard. We had a late peach season due to the cold weather, and we wanted to make the most of it.

Jackson and Etta were eager to get to picking, and each wanted their own bucket. Desmond was less excited.

He did wake up eventually, but Jackson was already on the go. He charged right into the orchard and started looking for peaches, dragging his bucket behind him the whole way. He's such a little country boy.

Todd and Desmond tag teamed it on the peaches. Des wanted to grab them so bad, but his arms just weren't long enough, so Todd gave him a hand.

Jackson is not one to miss out on a photo op, so when he saw the camera out, he pulled away from the peach trees and demanded his close up. It is hard to resist eyes as blue as those.

He did get back to peach picking though. Of course he wasn't interested in the low hanging peaches; he wanted the big ones right at the very tip tops of the trees.

He and Etta helped us fill up two big buckets, but they also helped us unfill them as well . . .The little monkeys kept running off with our peaches. Jackson would take a bite of one, and Etta would take a bite of another. Then they'd switch to make sure they weren't missing out on anything.
Desmond thought the whole thing was just so much fun!

It was a great afternoon field trip for us all, and Jackson brought home 17 pounds of peaches for pies, cobblers, and preserves, to assure that we'll have as much fun eating them as we did while picking them.
