Summer Fun
Our summer fun has continued through the month of July. Strawberry season wrapped up and we celebrated the harvest at the Strawberry Festival. They had just about every strawberry treat you can imagine as well as elaborate balloon hats.

Jackson is really getting into this country baby thing. He is especially fond of all things tractor related, including his new John Deere t-Shirt from Aunt Marcy and Uncle Ken. He likes to point to the logo and say "my tractor."

He also likes to climb on tractors even if they aren't his. We couldn't keep him off of this one at the cherry orchard outside of town.

He did eventually get down long enough to pick a few cherries and throw them into a bucket, but that game lasted only a few minutes.
Then he wanted "up, up, up." This kid is a climber and not at all afraid of heights. He did manage to pick another handful of cherries from up there.

The mamas used the mud like a babysitter and picked as many cherries as we could before he decided to run off toward the tractor again.

In the end it was a very successful trip, and we picked over ten pounds of tart red cherries.
The 4th of July was a calm one for us this year. We went over to Joey and Ellie's house for a little wiffle ball and pulled venison sandwiches. Jackson loves to run around with their dog, Zoey, and play ball with Joey or in the sandbox with Ellie.

Then he found a puddle and all the cherries were forgotten. He spent the next twenty minutes running through the muddy water and splashing around. He even sat down and kicked around a little bit.

He's also becoming a pretty big fan of ice cream, and there was plenty of that to go around despite the fact that it was kind of chilly. We'd actually had on light jackets when we ran to the farmer's market early in the morning, but that didn't stop Jackson from having a big bowl of sherbet with the other kids.

We turned in early that night since Jackson is afraid of fireworks and we had a big day ahead of us on Sunday.
