Susie's Birthday
On July 5 we had a big backyard bash to celebrate Susie's birthday. The party was just about perfect with beautiful, sunny weather all afternoon and tons of friends gathered around.
Jackson particularly enjoyed all the company. We barely saw him all afternoon since he had so many friends to chase around. The only time he slowed down was to visit with Simon and sort a few washers into plastic cups, which apparently is a very important job.
We also had grown ups at the party too. Actually we had 45 people there throughout the afternoon and evening.
Folks were sprawled all over our yard and gathered around the grill and two full food tables. We are still eating the burgers a week later and had to take the extra desserts to other people's houses to get rid off it all.
Then on Susie's actual birthday we kept things a little more low key. Susie joined Rach and Jack at swim lessons in the morning. In the afternoon we baked her favorite dessert, cherry pie with our freshly picked cherries. Susie also opened her present from Rach and Jackson.
We got her a "mother's pendent" with Jackson's birthstone in it for her to wear as a necklace. It's very cute and also meaningful, and she put it on right way.
Rach and Suz put Jackson to bed and then our friend Todd came over to sit for him while Rach and Suz went out for a very lovely dinner, just the two of us. It was a wonderful end to a great day.
