Nana and PawPaw Fall Visit

Nana and PawPaw arrived on Friday, Oct 23, just a week before Jackson's second birthday. They kicked off our week-long celebration of Jackson. They couldn't wait for Jackson to open his presents. Here he is with his new hockey stick. "Watch me play hockey" is one of Jackie's new favorite sayings.
Jackie also got a workbench from his G-mama so he can hit something that is supposed to be hit. Needless to say, he loved it.

Jackson is a Renaissance man, though. He not only likes to hit things, he likes to draw, paint, and model with playdough. His new art desk is the place to do all those things, and he loved drawing on it. We had to clarify for him to draw on the paper on the desk, not just to draw on the desk, which he took literally. Thank goodness for the magic eraser!
Uncle Bubby contributed to the present by buying Jackson enough paint, cups and paintbrushes to last until kindergarten.
The weekend also included a visit to Happy Hollow, the local pumpkin patch. Jackie loved the tiny roller coaster set up there.
Susie loved "Electra" the llama, who could moonlight as a drag queen with that eye shadow! Jackie wasn't so friendly with her.

Jackie did, however, find a pumpkin he liked. How could he not with so many to choose from?

Jackson even helped cart the pumpkin to the car.

Once we got it home, Jackson had second thoughts about carving it. Here he is hugging "Jeffro (Teef r gud)."
Isn't he the cutest thing?
Jackie wasn't quite as enamored with the pumpkin guts as he was last year, but finally got up the nerve to stick his hand in.

Here are Nana and Jackie with Jeffro.

The happy family.

On Sunday afternoon, we decided to head back to church for the Fall Festival. Jackie helped Nana decorate some place mats with stickers.

Rachel managed to bob for an apple, much to the onlookers' delight.

PawPaw spent most of Sunday cooking a turkey, much to our delight.

On Monday morning, Nana accompanied Susie and Jackson to Music Together, one of Jackson's favorite activities.

PawPaw amazed Jackie with his beautiful, if structurally unsound, bridges over "train tracks."

The weekend was too short, and we were all sad to see Nana and PawPaw go. We couldn't grieve too long, though, for Big Papi was due in just two days!

He looks like a natural on the drums. I think he might need a set of his own in the near future!!
