Fall Fest

A few weeks ago, we went to Fall Fest at Peek-n-Peak with some friends. Fall Fest is a huge event meant to get people to the Peak to see the accomodations, and there were crafts, local foods and wines, amusement park rides, a magician, and most importantly for Jackson, animals. Here he is with a pony at the petting zoo.

Jackson is so focused on something here that he completely missed the llama, though he got back to him later.

Jackson had fun dancing for the goats, who seemed to enjoy his show. Imagine a goat's delight when Jackson graced him with a kiss after the dance.

After the petting zoo activities, we headed to the craft room. There, kids could decorate pumpkins, make noisemakers (really, because kids need more noisemakers), or cut out mobiles. Here, Neil and Ben draw a face on their pumpkin.

Jackson liked showing Simon where to attach the "pom-ball" on the pumpkin.

The Peak gives ski-lift rides during Fall Fest. You get to ride down as well as up the mountain. Last year Jackson wasn't so sure when we took him on the lift, but this year he LOVED it. Here he is scoping out the view.

And here's the view. The leaves were not at their most colorful, but the trees in the valley were still beautiful.
Before we left for home, we had to get two more rides in. We had our doubts about the train, but Jackson demanded to ride. He loved it. He even held up both hands at the end like he was on a roller coaster. The picture is a bit small to see, but he is smiling here.

The big ride, though, was the pony ride. Jackson rode like a pro. He already knows how to sit a horse, and he yelled "Yee-haw" (pronounced "nee-haw") to get Sugar (his horse) going.

Here's Jackson with his proud mommy at the end of the ride. I'm not sure who enjoyed Jackson's ride more.

Overall, it was a great day at the Peak, but we're more excited about coming back when it's covered with snow!

Those trails sure look different without snow on them! :-) Glad to see Jackson is down with horses!
