Ski Season

We finally got our wish this weekend when the slopes opened at the local ski resport. Even thought we had tons of other things to do and not much money to do it with, we couldn't resist a trip to Cockaigne.

Cockaigne is a small ski hill with 5 main slopes and 10 trails that is about a half an hour drive from our house. The trails were a little icy in spots, and we were getting warmed up after 8 months off the snow, so we stuck to the easy slopes all afternoon.

It was a beautiful day, sunny and about 35 degrees, which makes for very comfortable skiing. We even got a little hot when we were carving, so we didn't need to bundle up. It felt amazing to be skiing again and we had a great time.

Here are a few pictures of us in the middle of a slope.

We are glad we made the most of the snow while we had it because for the past few days its been 40 plus degrees and all the snow in our yard is gone. It's probably better that way since we have final exams to take and grade this week. However, as soon as we get back from Illinois, we'll be hitting a few more resorts in New Nork before heading for a week at Snow Shoe in West Virginia.
