More House Work

Those of you who follow the blog know that we have a hideous bathroom. It is filled with many problems that are beyond our home improvement skills. However, this weekend we decided to tackle some of the small things that we can actually fix. First, while we are stuck with the ugly pink tile, we don't have to live with the purple door and cabinet frame, which we felt just added insult to injury and was, frankly, a bit mean-spirited.

Second, we decided to replace the sliding doors on the cabinet. They were bowed and cumbersome, and they prevented us from having any solid access to what was inside.

First we took off the doors, revealing a big ole mess of stuff stuck randomly on the shelves.
We then had some new boards cut down to fit the cabinet. We added some hinges and got set to hang them.

Of course, nothing is a easy as it should be. We hadn't planned for the new hinges when we measured so we had to sand one down, but at least we got to use the new sanding attachment for our electric drill.
Then Susie wouldn't let Rachel and her big baby belly near the power saw. Rach was nervous about handing over the power tool, but Susie took to it like a pro.

We then needed just a little more sanding (ugh) and a touch of paint before we completed the doors. Don't they look so much better? They are also a heck of a lot more manageable!

Finally, Rachel's obsessive compulsive organizational skills took over, and she arranged the cabinet's contents into convenient bins.
There is the new inside set-up, which is as clean and convenient as the new doors. Not bad if we do say so ourselves.

I LOVE the storage bins with the labels! How neat and tidy everything looks. I also thing the new doors look wonderful. You all do such a professional job. I think you could hire yourselves out to others.

I want to see more pics of Rachel's big baby belly! :)
