A Normal Shower

Not that the Pana shower was weird or anything. Our Normal shower simply happened in Normal, Illinois on July 6. It was hosted by compadres Jan, Claire, Marcy and Nikki in Jan's newly re-tiled living room. We had a lovely time catching up with the Bloomington-Normal crowd.

We started off with a memory game. Claire passed around a tray of baby-related items and we had to then write down as many as we could remember. Susan Burt took the prize with all sixteen items. Some of us had trouble identifying certain items. The nose aspirator became merely the "snot-sucker," and Julie thought Desitin is used to soothe the baby's gums when it is teething. Needless to say, Julie will need some babysitting lessons before Jackson stays with her! :-)

Then it was time for presents. We received a lot of books, which we always appreciate. Jackson's library is getting bigger all the time. We also received a boppy from Marcy, a comfy sleeper from Jan, an ISU outfit from Barb, and a bottle warmer from Nikki and Brian. Claire also gave us a personalized picture from with the inscription, "My Mommies and Me." She said the girl at the engravers gave her a weird look when she ordered it. So much for a "normal" shower gift, huh? Here are some pics from the evening.

As you can see, the crowd was mesmerized. Then we had delicious food. Claire made her excellent chicken salad (the only chicken salad I will eat), and of course there was fruit, salad, and cake, compliments of Marcy (and Audra).

It was a lovely evening, and we were sad when we had to leave our friends and get back on the road. It was too short a trip, and we hope to see them in the fall around Thanksgiving. To all who were there, your thank you notes are on the way!
