Though we are far away we want to make sure we stay in touch and keep everyone updated on what's going on in Western New York. Please feel free to post your own comments and send us notes.

Go You Redbirds

While in Illinois Rachel was booked for a reading/signing of Learning Curve at ISU. It was great to be back at the alma mater, and Rach and Suz had a blast catching up with old friends and showing off Jackson.
Rachel had about 25 people at her reading for the PRIDE group. It was wonderful to see some of her students again and get to meet the new faces of the group. That's one thing about those student groups, they rejuvenate themselves ever few years. There were also several professors there who can always be counted on to ask good questions, and there are few things Rachel likes more than talking about herself.

After the reading Rach got to sign some books, something she always has a hard time with. It isn't easy to be clever on cue, but she tries. ISU was particularly hard because everyone there means so very much to her (see the acknowledgements in Learning Curve.)

When the whole event was over, the PRIDE students took Rach, Suz, and Jackson out to dinner at Flattop Grill. This is a routine Rach participated in many times as a student, so it was fun to be on the receiving end of it. Though it is worth noting that while Rach was well liked, she paled in comparison to the reception Jackson got!

It was a great trip to ISU and we are already itching to get back there again at the end of the month!
