Pawpaw came out to visit for Labor Day weekend, and we had a great time hanging out and playing together. Jackie and Pawpaw were inseparable all weekend.

We kicked off the long weekend on Thursday with a trip to see the season finale of the Buffalo Bisons, Buffalo's minor league baseball team. Pawpaw got to meet some of our friends and see a few rehabbing major leaguers (Melky Cabrera, Shelly Duncan, Morgan Ensberg) play ball. Jack was much more interested in Pawpaw than he was in the baseball.
That night there was a poker game, but Pawpaw and Rach both had a very poor showing. Susie was the only Spangler not to walk away in the hole.
Friday was pretty low key, but Saturday was a busy day. We started off by building a fire pit. We have an old well in the backyard, and it's been covered over with concrete,so we decided to use that as our starting point.
We then got some bricks that Pawpaw leveled off to form the walls of the pit.

Once we got the walls built and filled it with sand and rocks, Susie converted the lid to our old fire pit into a base for this one.

With that we were done and had a fire going in it the very next evening! After the fit pit was complete, it was off to Buffalo for the
Wing Festival.

We ate tons of wings of all flavors from the classic
Anchor Bar Wing (excellent), to the Bloody Mary wing (meh), to the hot wing soup (better than you might think).

Jackson did not eat any wings, but he did had a great time playing with Pawpaw, who taught him how to give high fives.
Sunday was more subdued. We started off the day by going to church, then we spent much of the afternoon laying around. Jackson and Pawpaw wrestled and took a walk down to the creek.

That evening we had friends over to roast hot dogs and marshmallows in our new fire pit. The parents where all impressed with our DIY skills, and the kids were mostly just impressed with the s'mores.
Monday we all went to play group before leaving Jackson and Pawpaw to have some boy time while the Mommies got to sneak way to see a movie! It was so nice to have some time to ourselves that didn't involve cleaning up or sleeping. Then we came home to an amazing steak dinner that Pawpaw cooked for us on our new grill!
Needless to say, we were sad to say goodbye to Pawpaw this weekend, as he spoiled us all so much. At least we know he'll be back soon because he can't stand to be away from this.
