Bella and Grandpa's Visit
Bella and Grandpa Bloome came out to visit for a few days in September, and we had a great time hanging out with them. Jackie of course enjoyed the company the most because he got spoiled rotten by them, but that's what grandparents are for, right?
We kept things pretty low key for the most part. There was a trip to the Farmers' Market and then a walk through Art in the Park before taking a quick trip up to see Niagara Falls. The Bloomes missed the falls on their last trip due to a freak October blizzard that shut down Buffalo.
This was also Jackson's first trip to the falls and he was awfully impressed with all that water. The kid couldn't get enough of the view. It took forever to get pictures taken because he wouldn't face forward. Finally we just gave up and start taking shots of him from a side angle.
Aside from the falls Jackson also liked the trip because he got to ride in Bella and Grandpa's van. We aren't sure whether it was the extra big windows or the fact that he could see Bella sitting behind him but every time we got in the van he thought it was just so funny.
Sunday we went to church in the morning. It was the church's annual Beef on Weck supper. Beef on Weck is a local delicacy, which is basically a french dip but on a kummelweck role. We were happy that Bella and Grandpa got a little local flavor while seeing our church.
That afternoon Susie and Bella went to a few wineries. They came home with a couple of bottles of wine, so they must have had a good time. Rach, Grandpa and Jackie stayed home and watched some football. Well, Rach and Grandpa watched football; Jackie kept watch for Mommy and Bella to return.
While they were here we also got to make stops in at a few of our favorite places around town. They got to see Jackie play at the library, which he just loves. We all ate at the Upper Crust Bakery for the best sandwiches in town, and finally we stopped in at the college pool for family swim.
Jackson is quite the little water bug.
As usual our visit went way too fast, and we were sad to see them go. At least we can take comfort in the fact that we'll see them again soon for Thanksgiving.
