Yard Sale

As Jackson's arrival nears, we have been frantically cleaning and clearing space for him. Babies apparently need a lot of stuff and we were starting to feel a little cluttered. After tripping over the coffee table for the zillionth time, we decided it had to go, and while we were at it why not get rid of some other things too. After piling up quite a bit of unneeded items, it we realized we had quite a bit of pretty nice things. It seemed a shame to dump it all, so we bit the bullet and had a yard sale.

After some initial scariness where people were waiting in their cars outside our house when we started setting up at 7:00 (it was supposed to start at 8:00) we settled in to a nice flow. Occasionally some crazy person would come by and ask if we had any firearms or knives; we did not. We also got a lot of questions about tools, which we did have a few of it you count a hedge trimmer, a rake, and a shovel. Mostly the clientele was nice and we sold several things we didn't even really expect to sell. Really, who buys text books at a yard sale?

All in all we had a pretty good day and ended up making just over $100. More importantly we got other people to haul off all the stuff we didn't have room for, although the coffee table and end table that sparked this whole yard sale idea did not sell. Ironic, no? (Anyone want them?)
The few things we didn't sell that we really didn't want, we put by the curb and it was all gone in less than 1 hour. Funny how people won't pay $0.50 for your stuff but descend on it like vultures the minute you leave it unattended.

I forgot to mention that it sounds like you two are "nesting" in anticipation of Baby J's arrival!
