First Big Snow

The week after Thanksgiving, we got our first big snow. We'd had a few minor ones, an inch here or there, but this was the first time Jackson really got to experience the full force of winter.

We went into the library for story time and it was just beginning to snow, but by the time we came out an hour later we had to scrape off the car. Jackson thought that was pretty interesting and wanted to touch the snow.

He kept looking at it out the window all through lunch, and by the time we'd eaten he was just engrossed with the way the entire landscape had transformed into a sheet of white. We decided he might like to play outside a bit, but in order for us to introduce Jackson to snow, he first had to be introduced to his snowsuit.

We went step by step and through the process of us putting on our snow pants, and then we mimicked the movements with him. He thought the whole thing was very amusing . . . until he had to put on the coat.

We finally got all of us into our pants, coats, boots, hats, hoods, and mittens, and we all waddled into the snow, which was quite a bit deeper than we had realized.

Jackson didn't really know if he liked being up to his waist in the fluffy cold stuff, but he was certainly interested in exploring while his mommies tried to remember if we had any gas/oil for the snow blower. Turns out we did not, and we couldn't get the car out to go get any, so we had to shovel our way out.

Jackie, though, did manage to make the whole ordeal bearable by looking like the cutest little snow baby ever.
