More From Around The House

As mentioned in some earlier posts, we don't really have an ideal amount of closet space in our house, and the closets we do have aren't in the best of shape. This is evidenced by the closet in Jackson's room. It was a real mess with no good way to keep things organized.

Aside from the terrible organization, the closet walls were in pretty bad shape, with about 3 types of wallpaper, all of which were cracking and coming loose. So we decided to pull everything out and completely redo it. I know, we have a baby due in 4 days, and yet we decided to drag everything out of his closet and tear it all up--probably not the smartest thing we've ever done. Still, the closet was not a pretty sight, and getting everything out of there didn't make it any prettier.

Rach spent all of Friday morning stripping the wall paper. Don't let the fake smile fool you, she was really second guessing the project at this point.

Susie took over during the priming/painting portion. She got the walls all sealed up with some mold resistant KILZ, and the solid white started to show some improvement by making the space seem less cluttered. Then, when the paint was all dried, she hung the shelving tracks along the back wall.

Rach then got to finish up the light work of putting in the actual shelves.

We then spent the remainder of the afternoon getting everything organized and putting the nursery back together. It was a big undertaking so close to Jackon's due date, but I think you'll agree that the end results were well worth the effort.

Not a bad set up, right? And the little bitty clothes certainly add to the cuteness factor.

In other shelving news, we have a lot of books (go figure) and not enough places to display them all with out overriding some of our other things. So, with some good shelving projects under our belt we decided to throw up a few in the office/guest room.

Here is the before picture, as you can see, Susie can't wait to tackle that bare wall space.

Within a half an hour those shelves were up and being put to good use!

Aren't we getting so handy?
