Rachel's Birthday
As many of you know, Rachel's birthday was last Saturday. She turned 25, the ole quarter century mark. She can now rent a car with the best of them!
For her birthday she requested a day spent quietly enjoying her time with Susie and some good food. She is realizing that with Jackson's due date quickly approaching, she isn't like to have many more days to just lounge and hang out uninterrupted with her wife. Susie not only met this request, she went above and beyond.
The day started with a lovely breakfast of cinnamon rolls (one of Rach's favorites) and chocolate milk. We then spent the morning finishing up Jackson's closet while listening to two of Rach's birthday presents: Melissa Etheridge's Awakening, and Reba McEntire's Duets, both of which are very good.
The night before had actually kicked off the festivities with bacon wrapped scallops from the fireside and pizza from Lena's. Lunch consisted of leftovers, and then the afternoon was spent cuddling and working some more in Jackson's room. Rach even got to break out the laser level and other tools, which is another thing she greatly enjoys. This was followed by more cuddling and a call from Mom and Dad Spangler.
The evening we spent having an amazing dinner at The White Inn. Rach had a steak that was cooked to absolute perfection and topped with Canadian bacon and Gouda cheese. Then we went home and had some cherry cheesecake, made by Susie at Rachel's request. This was certainly a birthday befitting a pregnant woman.
The final hit of the night came in the form of one last present. As you can see from the picture, Rachel was pretty excited about it.
Susie gave her a Yadier Molina bobble head. She had tracked it down on Ebay after Rachel mentioned how cool she thought they were when she saw one on T.V. They weren't for sale, just promotional give-aways, but Susie manged to get one! He looks great on the new shelves we just finished putting up in the guest room.

At the end of the day, Rach was thrilled with her gifts, the food, and her time spent with Suz. It was a darn good 25th birthday.

Happy birthday Rachel! Great job Suz! Yadi & steak, what more could you ask for? Dad
Uh, did no one ever tell you about that "nesting" thing that attacks pregnant women just before they give birth. I'd say your sudden urge to re-do the closet as a clear manifestation. (Especially since I've subsequently been proven correct.)
Congrats on JJ's arrival. I can't wait to meet him and give his moms a hug!
